The most difficult part of any project has to be committing something in writing for the first time. It isn’t the getting involved, investigating and testing processes and ideas that holds you up, but the documentation: how do you make sense of what you are doing to others. My involvement with this project started some time ago, in July 2011: a skip find raised our curiosity and we discovered a fascinating narrative. At the time my own research project into the artifacts created by others from ‘ticking’ prevented any further investigation, but the story has been there, at the back of my mind, a ghostly shadow waiting for the light to reveal it’s secrets. And now there are other fragments gathered for us to investigate, and other people to share the discoveries with. It’s with great excitement that I shall delve into each little pot to play with the visual and narrative elements and see what emerges.
